The time between my posts just seems to get longer and longer. The truth is that life has kept me incredibly busy of late. I wish I could produce more art and post more often, but that just has not been a reality of late.
That said, above is the latest in my series of music-related portraits, this time a full size, un-cropped version of my depiction of soul legend Chaka Khan! I was introduced to this beautiful lady as a kid by her rousing version of Prince's 'I Feel For You'. Everything about that song (and video) had me transfixed, it was a real moment.
In later years as I spent my time in clubs and raves I found more of her back catalogue and boogied to classics such as 'Ain't Nobody' and 'I'm Every Woman'. I listen to her voice and often have to wonder how people can rate the large percentage of modern singers today. Not only is Chaka a great singer, but possibly one of the most beautiful women ever, with a radiant smile that just draws you in.
Suffice to say, I had a great time doing this, especially towards the end, when all of the various elements started coming together. As usual, below are some process pics as well as a few clips of her finest work.
As always, enjoy!
