The latest in my series of music-themed portraits, this time featuring Blur front man, Gorillaz co-creator and solo artist in his own right Damon Albarn.
Back in the day I was not a big fan of Blur, being more of an Oasis man as I was swept up in the 'Britpop' explosion of the 90s. However, as time went on, I really came appreciate their body of work. I remember first seeing the video for 'Tomorrow Comes Today' by Gorillaz and really falling in love with Jamie Hewlett's designs for the band and the sound that Damon Albarn had created for the band along with the many collaborators on the project.
What I like most about Mr. Albarn is his willingness to experiment and embrace different sources of inspiration for his music. His latest solo album 'Everyday Robots' has been on loop for a while now.
This portrait was possibly the quickest one to do out of all of them so far, but I'm pretty pleased with the results. As usual, I've added some clips of my favourite bits of his ridiculously good back catalogue.
As always, enjoy!
