It's been a while since I did one of these music-themed digital portraits due to being engaged in lots of other work, but I managed to squeeze one in, this time of one of my all-time favourite artists, Beck Hansen.
Like a lot of folks, the first time his work came to my attention was his big hit 'Loser', but he really struck a chord with me when I saw the video for 'The New Pollution'. The tune seemed like such a fusion of all the things that appealed to me at the time that I sought out all his albums and continue to follow his work to this day.
I love the fact that Beck never stands still musically, constantly experimenting with his sound and incorporating different influences, every album having a different feel and texture. I've found a lot of his later work to be particularly compelling, especially 'Sea Change' and his collaboration with Danger Mouse, 'Modern Guilt'.
I had a good time rendering in this fashion having not done so for a while. I'm hoping to get through the rest of this series more consistently in future.
As always, enjoy!
